How to Design a Template for Cost-Effective Brochure Printing

Cost-Effective Brochure Printing

Businesses and other organizations recognize cost-effective marketing materials as relevant. They need to capture the audience attention to get them interested on the products or services they offer. One of the common means to this is to create attractive design templates for brochures. If they will be sending out brochures in mails or leaving on tables for clients to take, they must make sure that the message is presented at its best. However, designing templates must be of a standard format. Otherwise, several resources might just go to waste including time and money. Below is a list of strategies on how to design a template before submitting a file to achieve cost-effective brochure printing.

File requirements must be strictly followed. To achieve great color results, RGB (Red, Green, and Blue) ink files must be converted to CYMK (Cyan, Yellow, Magenta, and Black). There are several programs and tools which designers can use to perform this task including Photoshop and Illustrator. Failure to submit in CYMK mode may cause unsatisfactory job. Also, resolution of graphics must be high enough to avoid blur print-outs. Graphics on the web if transferred into print produces low-quality images. So to avoid hassles on printing, it is necessary to add pixels until 300dpi. If, moreover, the brochure print-out includes black ink, CYMK black is the best to use. Rich black print-outs create a vivid vision for added attention.

After having formatted the file as standard, several guidelines must also be met for optimum results. This includes the implementation of bleed, safety and cut-off area. When making designs for brochure printing templates, is necessary to provide bleed by extending the background image. This avoids the white surface to occur along the edge of the print-out. Safety and cut-off area, on the other hand, is very critical for effective text and design application. Texts and images must be laid within the safety area and page borders must have a considerable distance from the cut-off area.

Other design methods may also be applied on the templates such as creating a spot UV. The UV coating in brochures highlights certain features of the template. In order to create one for proper printing, the designer must send a separate copy of the template with UV coated features colored in Black and other areas in White. Additional charges may be requested for this but multiple job technique will lessen the printing costs. Multiple jobs technique is used for cost-effective brochures by printing numerous templates of different designers at a single run. This practical and inexpensive service also meets quick turn around time.

Many people may fail to realize that files seen on computer screens are a lot different on print-outs. By following specific guidelines and strategies, designers will save great efforts. Businesses will also attain satisfactory results for their advertising and marketing campaigns while generating cost-effective brochures. The format, specifications and other applications must be undertaken every time a file is submitted for brochure printing. Time, efforts and money are valuable resources that must be allotted appropriately.
